Enlightened Sensibilities explores the evolving nature of creativity in later life, featuring seminal late works by Georges Braque and Louise Bourgeois alongside new pieces by Evie Body, an artist and psychotherapist whose practice probes the emotional and psychological landscapes of ageing.

Braque’s Les Derniers Messages (1960–63) offers a contemplative meditation on mortality and spiritual transcendence, reducing form and colour to their elemental essence. Bourgeois’s Sheaves and Inner Life (1985) grapple with vulnerability, resilience, and introspection, reflecting the complex emotional terrain of ageing. These works demonstrate how advanced years deepen creative expression, blending technical mastery with profound emotional insight.

Evie Body’s work complements this dialogue by bringing her dual perspective as artist and psychotherapist. Through intimate, psychologically charged pieces, Body explores memory, identity, and the inner experience of growing older. Her practice reveals creativity as a vital mechanism for processing life’s challenges and embracing transformation.

Rooted in recent neuroscience and psychological research, Enlightened Sensibilities celebrates creativity as a dynamic, lifelong force. The exhibition invites viewers to rethink ageing, not as decline but as a stage rich with artistic vitality, wisdom, and expressive depth.
